Nurturing health, practicing gratitude, and seeking joy every day with autoimmunity
I always considered myself a really healthy person. Growing up, I was an active girl-walking for miles around the city, riding my bike, going rock-climbing and hiking in the summers… As an adult, I ate pretty close to a whole foods diet- whole grains, veggies,”natural” meats, and only the very occasional fast-food garbage. I almost always (except post-baby) kept a healthy weight. And yet, at age 44, I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. Every other test came back normal. And it seemed to me that I was given the disease of healthy people: autoimmunity. Somehow, for some reason, my body decided to attack itself and despite all my best efforts- I hadn’t had to go to the doctor for seven years previous-I crashed. I mean, I could barely move. I could rarely hold a conversation. I had to change my life. You’re invited to join me as I figure out how to beat this thing!
